Spray Foam Insulation

Commercial Spray Foam Insulation at South Regional airport

Spray Foam Insulators recently completed a commercial spray foam insulation project at a regional airport facility, where energy efficiency and HVAC performance were top priorities.

This project involved the South Regional Airport administration building, a 10,000-square-foot space that houses multiple business entities, including a café, all under one roof.

Project Overview

  • Building Type: Airport administration facility
  • Size: Approximately 10,000 square feet
  • Scope of Work: Roof insulation
  • Foam Type Used: Closed-cell spray foam
  • Objective: Improve HVAC efficiency and reduce energy costs

The Challenge

As part of a state-led renovation, the building underwent a complete HVAC system upgrade. However, the existing insulation was insufficient to meet the new system’s efficiency goals.

The original fiberglass insulation had been poorly installed and, over time, was compromised by maintenance activities above the drop ceiling. In many areas, the insulation was missing entirely, leaving gaps and voids that allowed air leakage and reduced system performance.

The goal was to create a more controlled environment where HVAC equipment and ductwork could operate efficiently within a semi-conditioned space.

Our Spray Foam Solution

To address these issues, we installed closed-cell spray foam insulation on the roof deck, creating a continuous thermal and air barrier.

Closed-cell foam was selected for its high R-value per inch and its ability to eliminate gaps and voids common in traditional insulation systems. By sealing the entire roof assembly, we effectively brought the HVAC equipment and ductwork into a semi-conditioned space, allowing it to operate more efficiently.

Results

The upgraded insulation system is expected to reduce heating and cooling costs by 40 to 50 percent. In addition to energy savings, the building now benefits from consistent temperatures and improved overall system performance.

Unlike fiberglass, spray foam eliminates the possibility of voids and maintains long-term performance without degradation from movement or access above the ceiling.

Spray Foam Insulators continues to deliver high-performance commercial insulation solutions backed by an outstanding online reputation and customer reviews.
